I am grateful for imperfections
Today, I am grateful for imperfection. For it gives us the gifts of perspective gained, lessons learned, obstacles overcome and progress made toward our dreams. I am so grateful for all the things about me that people called "imperfections" or "flaws" because it allowed me the opportunity to choose to love myself for being unique and to see beauty in a new way. I am so grateful for all of the mistakes that I have made and for all of the times that I look back and think "If only I knew then what I know now..." Each experience we encounter gifts us with a lesson. Often the more disastrous the situation, the more imperative and impactful the lesson within it is.
I'm grateful that I am not the world's greatest artist or singer or yogi. I am given the opportunity to learn about and progress in something that I really love. Nothing compares to sticking a handstand, hitting a note or completing an art piece when you know that at one point it felt impossible. It is true that the beauty within the journey defines and often outweighs the destination. As a far from perfect human being who is skilled in the art of mistake making...I could not be more grateful for the feeling of falling down because it taught me that I have the strength to get back up. I am grateful for every obstacle because it pushed me to think outside of the box. I am grateful for every heart break because it taught me that not only do I have the ability to heal but I have an enormous capacity for love. I am so grateful to know that within every high and low is the opportunity to learn and grow.
My artwork is one of the places I am most grateful for my imperfections. Looking back on old artwork and comparing it to my new stuff is always so much fun because even though it's never going to be perfect, it will always perfectly represent how unbelievably beautiful my life is.
May you see your blessings- even when they are hidden and in disguise.
