I've gotten a few questions about my workout routine lately so I decided to make a blog post to share my routine with you!
Q: How many days a week do you go to the gym?
A: It really just depends on the week. Sometimes I hit the gum 7 days a week and even get a day where I hit the gym twice. Other weeks I'm lucky if I make it twice in a week.
Q: How many days a week do you do yoga?
Every single day. Whether it's a couple of minutes of mindful breathing and stretching or a full blown hour or more flow, I have gotten into the habit of practicing asana every single day.
Q: What do you do when you go to the gym?
A: Every day is a little different but here's the usual M.O.
-Warm up with 30 minutes of either the treadmill or the elliptical.
-Lift weights (20 mins)
-Stretching and yoga (20 mins)
-Strength training either using my own body weight or 5 lb. weights (20 mins)
-More stretches (5 mins)
-Cool down cardio, either on the treadmill or the stationary bike. (10-30 mins)
Q: Have you lost weight?
A: I never really know how to feel when people tell me "I can tell you've lost weight since you've been hitting the gym, you look good!" because first of all, I didn't start working out to lose weight and usually when I'm at a personal low weight, it's because I'm super stressed. Second of all, I actually gained weight since working out! I weigh more now than I've ever weighed in my life- likewise I am the strongest I've ever been.
What's in my Gym bag:
It is so vital to stay hydrated while working out!
Smell good spray
Extra hair ties incase I snap one
Menstrual pads (just incase)
I take pictures almost every single time I'm at the gym, it's part of my routine. I track my progress by how I look and feel- not by my weight. I joined my current gym back in July and 4 months later-I have gained a lot of muscle mass, strength, energy and endurance.
For me, working out is just as much about mental health as it is physical health. When we work out, blood gets pumped to the brain and we get that rush of oxygen we didn't even know we were craving.
