12/11/2018 0 Comments why yoga and what it has done for meI recently received a very thoughtful question in my dm's WHY YOGA???? I came to yoga for the physical practice, stayed for the mental discipline and will continue to come back to the mat for the spiritual experience. From high powered ashtanga and bikram to relaxing restorative and yin, there is a yoga for every single body. Yoga is for the healthy, happy and thriving. Yoga is for the lost, broken and hurt. Come to your mat in bakasana and fly, or hang out in fetal balasana and cry...yoga is whatever you need it to be. The mat is somewhere you will not only be accepted but praised for coming to. Everyone is seeking the same thing- to be a little less broken and feel a little more whole. Acknowledging and accepting this in ourselves brings us closer to oneness. WHAT YOGA HAS DONE FOR ME:: In short, my yoga practice has saved my life...here's why; My practice has gifted me with so many things -A way to directly relieve the pain and suffering of the human mind and body. -A connection to the macro-organism of the Universe through my increased awareness of the self. -The ability to be a forever student who never stops learning or progressing. -The opportunity to share my passions and perspectives in a healing way. -An accepting community of yogis who have all faced their own battles and traumas. -Allowed me to spend more time consciously living in the present moment as oppose to just operating out of habit. The best part is, what yoga does for me changes and evolves all the time. With yoga, there are no limits to how far you can go in your spiritual practice.
